A new ally on my journey: berberine.

I’m so excited to share with you something new I’ve been exploring in my life that I feel has brought subtle but powerful changes. For the past two months, I’ve been taking berberine, a natural supplement that caught my attention for the way it can support our metabolism and overall well-being.

For me, wellness isn’t just about taking care of the physical body; it’s so much more. It’s about understanding ourselves, learning what truly serves us, and seeking tools that help us stay balanced emotionally and mentally. Berberine came into my life almost by chance, through reading research and listening to the experiences of people I deeply respect in the health world.

What is berberine?

Berberine is a natural compound found in plants like barberry, tree turmeric, and goldenseal.

It’s been used for centuries in traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine, but only recently has modern science started paying more attention to its benefits for metabolic health.

Something I find fascinating is that it works by activating an enzyme called AMPK, known as the “master switch of metabolism.” This helps our bodies manage energy better, regulate blood sugar, and use fats more efficiently. Basically, it gives our system a gentle push to return to its natural rhythm.

What I’ve felt since I started taking it?

After about a month of including it in my routine, I’ve noticed more stable energy throughout the day and fewer sudden cravings, especially those moments when I’d usually reach for something sweet without really needing it. Obviously, it’s not magic nor does it replace what matters most: eating clean, moving your body, and getting good rest. But I do feel it’s a lovely complement, a little extra support.

How I’m integrating it into my life?

  • I still prioritize real foods, full of color, plants, healthy fats, and quality proteins. For me, berberine doesn’t make sense if it’s not paired with my habits, so if you don’t have those in place yet, start by building them first — I have a blog that can help you with that..

  • I take it in small divided doses before meals, since that’s how it works best in the body.

  • I keep walking, doing my yoga practices and breathing exercises that keep me connected.

  • I keep moving my body, staying connected through my practices. Above all, I remind myself to be patient, because no meaningful change happens overnight.

Why am I sharing this with you?

Because I know many of you are also on this journey of trying to feel better, with more energy and fewer emotional or physical ups and downs. I think exploring tools like berberine can be interesting if you already have a healthy foundation. Of course, I always recommend checking with a doctor before starting any supplement, especially if you have pre-existing conditions or take other medications.

I created this space to share what I’m discovering — not just recipes or pretty places, but also little things that can make a big difference in how we feel and live day to day.

Thank you for reading. I hope that if you ever try berberine (or anything that supports your health), you do it from a place of self-love, curiosity, and without expecting perfection. Here we keep growing together, exploring, and learning.

To wrap up, here’s…
